Pen-and-Paper versus Computer-Mediated Writing Modality as a New Dimension of Task Complexity

چکیده
In this paper we make a proposal that writing modality (pen-and-paper versus computer-based can be conceptualized as cognitive task complexity factor. To lay ground for theoretical proposal, first review previous adaptations of task-based models to second language (L2) writing. We then compare pen-and-paper and modalities in terms their general characteristics, outline the main tenets multidisciplinary which attribute learning performance-related importance modality, available empirical evidence. From draw justification our conceptualization dimension. After outlining conceptual view, proceed with methods could used independently assess load computer-written L2 tasks. conclusion, implications suggestions future research are provided.
